Awareness must be created about Brucellosis disease – ZP President

Mangalore, Aug 4, 2012 : Delivering the inaugural address after inaugurating a technical session at the National Control Program on Brucellosis (NCPB) organized jointly by the Karnataka Veterinary Association of DK, the DK Zilla Panchayat, and the DK Cooperative Milk Producers’ Association in Mangalore on Aug 3, Friday, DK Zilla Panchayat President K. T. Shailaja Bhat spoke of the need to create awareness on Brucellosis, a disorder that could affect calves in the district.

 

Speaking about the same disease, Ravi Kumar Kakade, managing director of DK Cooperative Milk Producers’ Association, said that the a Milk Ring Test (MRT) is conducted to find out if the cow is affected by the disease. Stating that no case of Brucellosis has been reported so far, he said that around 1,500 milk samples from five taluks across the district will be tested.

Among those present were Naveen Kumar Monala, member of the agriculture and industry standing committee of the DK Zilla Panchayat; Dr. G. Shivananda, president of the Karnataka Veterinary Association of DK; and Raviraj Hegde Kodavoor, president of the DK Cooperative Milk Producers’ Association.
