Mangalore, November 3: The Deralakatte-based Ansar Arabic College, affiliated to South Karnataka Salafi Movement, will organize a day-long educational conference based on the theme of ‘learn and teach in the name of the Creator’ as part of its silver jubilee celebrations at Salafi Nagar at Deralakatte on Nov 7. The purpose is to urge the government to introduce Arabic as an optional subject in the schools and colleges of Karnataka.
Ismaeel Shafi, the administrator of Ansar Arabic College, told reporters on Wednesday that the public session will be inaugurated by CM B. S. Yeddyurappa and presided over by Minister for Higher Education Dr. V. S. Acharya. Home Minister R. Ashok, MP of Kerala E. T. Mohammed Basheer, MLAs U. T. Khader and N. Yogish Bhat, State Minorities Commission Chairman Anwar Manipaddy, and BJP President (district unit) Padmanabha Kottary, and others will be chief guests.
Umar Shareef of Bangalore will speak on “The Religion that Changed the World” on the occasion. Abdul Wahab Jamaee of Harapanahalli, Abdul Rahim Sagri of Bellary, Haneef of Kayakkodi, and Abdul Salam Mongam of Dubai will participate in the educational session. President of Indian Islahi Centre of Sharjah Hussain Salafi will deliver the valedictory address.
