Ankola: Man detained for allegedly waving Palestinian flag during Eid Milad rally

Ankola, August 27, 2026: Police detained a 29-year-old man for allegedly waving a Palestinian flag during an Eid Milad procession in Ankola on Wednesday and registered a case against him for allegedly disturbing public order.

The accused, Mohammed Raza Akbar Ali, a resident of Vitthalghat in Krishnapur, had reportedly brought the Palestinian flag from his home and waved it during the procession.

According to police, some people initially tried to stop Ali from displaying the flag, but he allegedly continued to wave it. Police Inspector Chandrashekhar Mathapati intervened and took possession of the flag.

As tensions escalated, police detained Ali and took him to the police station.

Several BJP leaders gathered at the station and demanded that a sedition case be registered against him. Deputy Superintendent of Police Girish said legal action had already been initiated and appealed to everyone to remain calm. He assured that appropriate action would be taken if any violation was established.
