Sullia, April 14, 2023: State Minister for Fisheries and Sullia MLA S Angara who had announced retirement from active politics close on the heels of the party choosing a new candidate for Sullia for the upcoming elections, has reversed his decision.

Speaking to reporters at Sullia Press Club, he said he had given a statement of retirement from politics out of anguish over denial of ticket. He said he has changed his decision and would remain in the BJP and strive for the victory of party candidate Bhagirathi Murulya.
Angara said he had never lobbied for ticket in his political career and that the party himself had chosen him to contest from Sullia for seven terms. He said he has the satisfaction of serving the society without any blemish.
He said he had earlier issued a statement that he would contest if the party fields him and was also relieved as there were no talks about change of candidate. He said he came to know that he had not secured a ticket only after watching TV news on April 11 night. "The next morning, in a confusion I announced retirement from active politics," he said and added that he was withdrawing his statement.
Local party leaders Harish, Venkat Valalambe and Venkat Dambekodi were present.
