Mangalore, July 24: All trains in Konkan railway rout are detained due to track sinking near Nivsar station owing to heavy rain. The track near Nivsar station sunk deep due to slipping soil under the railway track owing to the continuous rain. The track sinking phenomena was known to the Konkan Railway authorities for some.
The railway authorities have been filling the loose area with stones and gravels for the past few days.
However, the track sunk very deep without support underneath since early this morning. All trains had to be retained in Ratnagiri and Mangalore until the track is made fit for plying.
Currently, no trains are running as Konkan Railway authorities are trying hard to fix the problem. Many important trains like Mangalore Express, Mangalore-Matsyagandha and Madgaon-Sawantwadi Express are cancelled.
Railway sources have said the route will remain closed today as well as tomorrow.
Just a few days ago there was also a landslide in the same region. Due to heavy rainfall Mumbai-Goa highway is also waterlogged at many places.
