Mangalore, March 28, 2013: Unification Committee of Billawa Associations President M Sitaram has alleged that the   Akhila Bharatha  Billawara Union which is a single association representing Billawa Community, was under the control of a single man who has considered the Union as his personal property.

Speaking at the press meet held at Pathmudi Saudha on March 28, Thursday, he said that Naveen Chandra Suvarna, President of Akhila Bharatha Billawara Union has been  heading the Union since the past 20 years by getting elected by his family and friends.

Sitaram also said that though there are around 4000 members  in the Union, Suvarna was neither inviting nor informing any members for the general members meeting. The office bearers meeting which was held on 11 March, 2013 was not in accordance to the  by-laws of the Union. The meeting was  attended by only 235 members, he said.

He further alleged that Suvarna was conducting the annual general body meetings of the union by inviting only his loyalists, by violating rules and by taking police help. The meeting held in this manner last year was declared unauthorized by the district registrar following a complaint by us, he said. Though Suvarna had last year promised to convene a second meeting within three months, he did not do so, Sitaram pointed out.

He further said in the meeting held  recently, three members  namely Ravishanker Mijar, BP Diwaker and himself were allowed to participate though they did not have the ID Card,   only to suspend them later on, on the charges of interfering in hostel work.

Sitaram also alleged that Suvarna was cheating the union and its members and  was going against the principles of  Shree Narayan Guru.He said the authorized members of the Union who have been cheated by Suvarna have now come together to form a Unification Committee of Billawa Associations to fight against injustice and for the welfare of the community.

Office bearers Eshwar Salian, Dinesh Anchan, Purushottham Poojary, Aithappa Poojary, Shridhar Kumar, Sureshchandra Kotian, Ravi Soorinje, Sudhakar Amin and others were present.
