ABKS to organize Rashtra Raksha for labourers in Mangalore

Mangalore, August 3, 2012: The Akhila Bharata Karmika Sangha (ABKS), DK district unit, will organize Rashtra Raksha on August 5 at 10:00 a.m. in Sai Kripa at Kottara Chowki in Mangalore.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, General Secretary Sudatta Jain said that the event is open to everybody. Expressing regrets about the communal disharmony in Mangalore, he said that all labourers work for national development, owing to which fellowship and brotherhood are essential among labourers. He also warned against corrupt officials and politicians who try to destroy fellowship among labourers.

 

Regarding the lack of facilities at the ESI Corporation, he said that the ABKS has submitted a memorandum to the chief minister. The memorandum demands provision of essentials such as all types of medical treatment at ESI Hospital in Kadri, appointment of doctors and staff to fill vacant posts at the hospital, medical services for ESI card holders and their families in the hospital, and the formation of a committee that will discuss vital issues every month. Other demands include provision of ambulances and buses displaying the name of the ESI Hospital in different areas and creation of a sub regional office for ESI card holders in Mangalore for the benefit of labourers in the twin districts. They also demanded ESI facilities for workers at various institutions and industries and proper wages to be paid to labourers at the right time.

ABKS office bearers such as Donald Karkala, Asha Anand Devadiga, Saju, Padmanabha Shetty Niddodi, and others were also present.
