3 arrested for selling hemp in MangaloreMangalore, Jan 4: The officials of the Anti Narcotics Cell of the district police have nabbed 3 persons attempting to sell hemp to students in Jeppu and have confiscated 5kgs hemp, a mobile phone, and a two wheeler from them on Jan 3, Monday.


The arrested are Nagesh (28) of Belthangady, Sharath Chandra (24) of Orissa, and Nemiraj (34) of Puttur. Allegedly, Sharat Chandra frequently visits Orissa to bring hemp and sell it in Mangalore. Previously, he used to bring hemp in small quantities, but a distinct rise in demand made him bring larger quantities recently.


The arrested are now with the Pandeshwar Police, who are further investigating the case.
