Girl put on fire by classmates dies in hospital, was raped

Indore, May 12, 2014: Nidhi Agrawal who was ablazed  the other day died today morning at 7 am in Choithram Hospital of Indore. The autopsy reports suggest that the death was caused due to severe burn but some wounds marks on her private parts were also revealed.   which indicates the possibility of fracas and rape by the trio before she was put to fire.

murderJilted in love, three pharmacy students set their classmate on fire when she was alone at her house. The incident occurred at Ozhara village on Saturday afternoon.

The victim was a classmate of the accused. All four are pharmacy students at Borawa Engineering College, Kasrawad, which is run by state Congress president Arun Yadav and his family. The place where the incident occurred is 10km from the college.

When the accused poured kerosene on her, she shouted for help. However, the trio managed to pin her down and set her on fire. Neighbours heard her crying for help and came out to see what was going on. When they saw Nidhi burning and the trio running away, they caught the three boys and handed them over to the police. They were identified as Ankit Rathore of Indore, Vishal Choudhary of Khandwa and Akshay Joshi of Dhar.

The neighbours managed to douse the flames but Nidhi had suffered 90% burns already. She has been admitted to a private hospital in Indore where she is battling for life. Khargone superintendent of police NP Varkade said preliminary investigation indicates that the accused took the heinous step after the victim rejected their proposal. On the basis of the girl’s statement, police registered a case against them under Section 307, 450 and 34 of Indian Penal Code.

The college principal refused to comment on the issue saying that the incident did not occur on the college premises.
