Congress government has made state as Udta Karnataka like Udta Punjab, alleges B Y Vijayendra

Belagavi, December 30, 2025: BJP state president B Y Vijayendra on Tuesday said the party would not allow the interests of Kannadigas to be compromised in the allocation of houses that are ready to be handed over to beneficiaries in Bengaluru.

He alleged that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar, acting under pressure from AICC general secretary K C Venugopal, were attempting to allot these houses to immigrants from Kerala who had allegedly encroached illegally on government land at Kogilu village in Yelahanka Assembly constituency. The encroachments were cleared after the structures were demolished, he said.

Vijayendra announced that a BJP core committee meeting has been convened in Bengaluru on January 5 to discuss the mode of protest and the course of action regarding the proposed allotment of houses to the alleged encroachers from Kerala, the growing drug menace in the state, and the non-payment of two instalments under the Gruha Laxmi scheme amounting to ₹5,000 crore.

Addressing reporters, he claimed that after the demolition drive at Kogilu, Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar made a “U-turn” following statements by Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Venugopal opposing the action. Vijayendra alleged that with their political future uncertain, the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister and Housing Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan were sacrificing the interests of Kannadigas to retain their positions.

He further alleged that houses constructed under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Corporation scheme, meant for poor and Scheduled Caste beneficiaries in Bengaluru, were now being diverted to encroachers. According to him, norms and guidelines for allotment had been compromised under pressure from Venugopal. He said the houses were built using taxpayers’ money and that the move had hurt the self-respect of Kannadigas.

Vijayendra also accused Siddaramaiah of favouring Kerala over Karnataka, alleging that 100 houses were constructed for flood victims in Wayanad and compensation of ₹15 lakh each was paid to victims of an elephant stampede in the neighbouring state, while flood victims in Karnataka received no such support. He claimed that when it came to aiding those affected by natural calamities in Karnataka or compensating farmers for losses, the Chief Minister blamed the Centre.

Raising concerns over law and order, Vijayendra alleged that Maharashtra police had seized drug factories in Mysuru, Siddaramaiah’s hometown, and in Bengaluru, casting doubts on the functioning of the state police and the Home Department headed by Dr G Parameshwara. He claimed that Karnataka was being turned into “Udta Karnataka,” with drugs allegedly being sold openly across villages, and alleged that the Chief Minister was unable to act independently without direction from Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and K C Venugopal.

He further alleged that two instalments under the Gruha Laxmi scheme, amounting to ₹5,000 crore, had not been released to beneficiaries. He claimed that neither Women and Child Welfare Minister Laxmi Hebbalkar nor Siddaramaiah, who also holds the finance portfolio, had addressed the issue, and accused Hebbalkar of misleading the legislature during the winter session.

Vijayendra also accused the Congress government of being anti-Hindu, alleging that during the legislature session it attempted to provide station bail to transporters illegally carrying cattle for slaughter, a move that was opposed by a section of the Cabinet.
