Mangaluru, Nov 4, 2025: In a decisive action against illegal cattle transport, the Rural Police intercepted a goods vehicle carrying a cow without valid permission in Malluru village, near the Badriyanagar area, under the jurisdiction of the Rural Police Station.

Based on specific intelligence, Assistant Sub-Inspector Arun Kumar and his team stopped a goods vehicle at Kanjilakodi in Malluru. The vehicle, driven by Joseph Nilesh D’Adda and accompanied by Majid from Kannur, was found transporting a cow from Kannur to Kalai without the required authorization.

Cattle smugling

“The illegal transport of cattle not only breaches the law but also endangers animal welfare,” said ASI Arun Kumar. “Our team acted swiftly to prevent the offence and ensure the cow’s safety.”

Both accused were taken into custody for further legal action, while the cow was handed over to a goshala (cattle shelter) as per court directions.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijay Kranti and the direction of Police Inspector Gaviraj of the South Sub-Division. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining strict surveillance to prevent illegal cattle trade in rural regions.

“Our focus is on safeguarding livestock and upholding the law,” DSP Kranti stated, urging citizens to report any suspicious cattle transportation activities.
