Mangaluru, November 4, 2025: In a significant step toward advancing India’s green hydrogen mission, HYDGEN announced the shipment of its first indigenously engineered electrolyser, specifically designed for use in the lab-grown diamond industry. The milestone marks a major achievement in the company’s pursuit of sustainable hydrogen production technology.
The first HYDGEN electrolyser unit, developed and manufactured entirely in-house at the company’s facility located on the Sahyadri Campus, Mangaluru, was unveiled by Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta. The event was attended by Dr. Manipaddy Krishna Kumar (COO), Ramyasri Doddamani Srivastava (Director), Dr. S.S. Injaganeri (Principal, Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management), and several industry representatives and members of the hydrogen innovation community.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Manipaddy Krishna Kumar, COO and Co-founder of HYDGEN, said, “This achievement highlights the capability and dedication of our engineering and R&D teams. Delivering our first in-house electrolyser to a client validates our technology and strengthens our position in India’s growing green hydrogen ecosystem.”
The HYDGEN DIA-S 5 kW PEM Electrolyser boasts a hydrogen generation capacity of 1 Nm³/h and produces 99.9995% pure hydrogen at a pressure of 10 bar. The system is tailor-made for Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) applications in lab-grown diamond manufacturing, where hydrogen plays a vital role in removing non-diamond carbon (graphite) and maintaining the plasma environment required for diamond formation.
The project’s success is credited to HYDGEN’s leadership team — Michael Gryseels (Executive Chairman), Dr. Goutham Dalapati (CTO), Dr. Manipaddy Krishna Kumar (COO), and Ramyasri Doddamani Srivastava (Director) — whose vision and technical expertise have driven the company’s mission to create innovative, high-performance, and fully indigenous hydrogen systems.
Looking ahead, HYDGEN plans to scale up its electrolyser capacity by developing larger stacks, modular systems, and enhanced efficiency features. The company also aims to expand its product portfolio to meet industrial-scale requirements and accelerate the deployment of commercial green hydrogen systems across multiple sectors.
The shipment of this first electrolyser marks the beginning of HYDGEN’s commercial deployment phase, reinforcing its commitment to supporting India’s decarbonisation and energy self-reliance goals through indigenous hydrogen technology.
