Mangalore, April 12, 2013 : Passenger traffic at the Mangalore International Airport has crossed one million, adding a new feather to the cap of the airport which celebrated its diamond jubilee last year.
The total passengers who travelled through Mangalore airport stood at 10.32 lakh as on March 31, 2013. As many as 8.78 lakh people travelled in the last financial year, thus registering an increase of 17.06 per cent in the passenger traffic in 2012-13. JT Radhakrishna, Director of Mangalore International Airport says they were expecting a 10 per cent increase in passenger traffic in the current financial year.
As per reports, the total number of passengers on international flights stood at 2,67,984 (1,21,427 arrivals and 1,46,521 departures), thus registering an increase of 7.12 per cent. The total number of passengers in domestic flights stood at 7,64,653 (3,84,753 arrivals and 3,79,900 departures) thereby registering an increase by 21.8 percent.
