Will contest if party decides to field me, says tainted Udupi MLA

Udupi, April 1, 2013 : Tainted Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat who had earlier said he would not be contesting the upcoming Assembly elections, has on March 31, Sunday said that he will  contest the elections if the party decides to field him.

Speaking to media men after attending a party meeting at the District BJP office, the MLA said  he would not mind even if the party decides against fielding him and added in that case he would work for the party’s victory.

 Continuing, the MLA who is greatly humiliated over the sleaze video which was circulating in the town and has also reached TV channels, having explicit scenes, the MLA said the video was only aimed at tarnishing him. He said  he has already lodged a complaint with the SP and the Deputy Commissioner seeking a thorough probe and punishment to the guilty.

Earlier hundreds of his supporters had gathered at the party office to know about the MLA’s decision. Several of them even threatened that mass resignations will follow if the high command decides against

fielding Bhat.

Somashekhar Bhat, a senior BJP leader who attended the meeting, demanded the arrest of those behind the sex video and said the incident has ruined the political future of an MLA who has  been sincerely working for the progress of the district.

Several party leaders namely Yashpal Suvarna, Mahesh Thakur, Sumithra Nayak, Upendra  Nayak, Udupi ZP Chief and others were present.
