Mangalore, June 3, 2013 : Wakf Minister Qamar-ul-Islam has dubbed as baseless the allegations leveled by Anwar Manippady, former chairman of the State Minorities Commission, regarding misuse of Wakf property.
Speaking to reporters in Mangalore on June 2, Sunday, the Minister said Manippady’s allegations were politically motivated and had ulterior motives. He recalled that though the then CM DV Sadananda Gowda had ordered a probe into the complaint, the same was later withdrawn.
The Minister said Aziz Sait, Rehman Khan and Mirajuddin who had worked for the welfare of minorities were being defamed through such allegations.
Informing that the government would construct five Haj Ghars, he said the Haj Ghar of Mangalore will come up at Kenjar or Thokur and a final decision regarding the location would be decided after talks with the DC.
Qamarul Islam who also holds the portfolio of Civic Administration said the reservation for the post of president and vice presidents of local administrative bodies, will be announced withi a week.
The Minister even visited the Zeenath Baksh Jumma Masjid.
