Vittal: Inter-state gang of thieves arrested

Vittal, Aug 25, 2013: The DK District Crime Investigation Bureau and the Vittal Police have in a joint operation arrested a four member group of notorious inter-state bike lifters at Salettur. The arrests followed a tip off.

The arrested are Abdul Basheer (21) of Vittalpadnur, K Ibrahim alias Ansu(22) of Kepu village, Mohammad Mansoor alias Manchu(21) of Vittalpadnur and Mohammad Nasir alias Aseer (23) of Bairikatte.

They were wanted in connection with burglary of houses, shops and theft of vehicles in various places in the district. Of the accused, Basheer was wanted in 11 theft cases and was once earlier arrested and released on bail. The police have seized a total of four bikes, one stolen from Ullal police station limits and three from Kasargod police station limits.

Investigations are underway.
