Udupi, April 23, 2013 : Vision Udupi -2025’ the manifesto of the Congress party for Udupi Assembly constituency, was released on April 22, Monday. The manifesto speaks about the various developmental programmes chalked out for Udupi by the Congress if it comes to power. The party plans to distribute the booklet to all voters in the constituency.
Speaking to reporters, Pramod Madhwaraj, Udupi Block Congress President and Congress candidate from Udupi constituency, promised that Udupi would be developed into a model constituency if the Congress comes to power. He said it makes a promise to provide 24x7 water supply throughout the year if it is brought to power. The manifesto also promises modern bridges and roads, due encouragement to tourism, fishing industry and also priority to education and health sectors.
Yet another promise is that of a super specialty hospital at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Other promises are better drainage facility in Manipal, Parkala, Malpe Kalyanpura, Ambagilu, and Bailoor. Steps would be also taken to improve solid waste management system, says the manifesto.
Krishna Hegde, MLA from Mumbai and party observer said he has taken note of the various problems of the constituency and promised they would be solved if the Congress was elected in the constituency.
Several Congress leaders including Yatish Karkera, Diwaker Kunder, Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje and others were present.
