Mangalore, Mar 3, 2014: Former MLA Vijayakumar Shetty and Mangalore South MLA J R Lobo distributed  free food to all the passengers who are stranded and are starving due to the impact of the DK Bundh in protest against the implementation of Yettinahole Project here on March 3, Monday.

As many as 350 to 400 people had their lunch at the KSRTC bus stand. Mr. Shetty and the MLA interacted with the stranded passengers and while pacifying  them, explained the situation. "The passengers stranded in Mangalore were not aware of the bundh call and had to put up with the situation. We have explained to them the reason behind the bundh call" said Vijayakumar Shetty.

Several leaders and activists supporting the bundh including former Suratkal MLA Vijaykumar Shetty,  P V Mohan, Dennis D’Silva, T K Sudhir, Ramanand Bolar, Dinkar Shetty, Shashiraj Shetty Kolambe, M G Hegde, Jayakar Samarth, Nemiraj Shetty, Badruddin, Radhakrishna and others were present and assisted in serving lunch to the stranded passengers.

Hotel offers free food: In another kind gesture, a hotel at Shivbagh was seen offering tea, coffee and snacks to people, particularly hostelites and travellers who  were forced to starve on the bundh day owing to closure of all hotels in support of the bundh.
