Mangalore, Jun25, 2013: Rastriya Vidyarthi Poshakara Vedike ® organised a protest in front of DC Office on June 25, Tuesday demanding immediate arrest of Manipal gang rape accused.
Addressing the protesters, RVPV convener Vireshwar Bhat said that Manipal rape incident has brought shame to the twin districts. Since several years students from across the nation have been coming to the twin districts to pursue their education in the twin districts known as the educational hub of twin districts.
The recent incident has left a black spot on the image of Manipal, where students from 52 countries are studying, he said.
He also urged the home minister K J George to take immediate action to trace the accused and punish them so that such incidents do not recur.
The Vedike also demanded dress code of salwar kameez to be made mandatory to the primary as well as high school girl students. It further warned of staging severe protest across the state and nation until justice was done to the victim.
Vedike Secretary Vishwanath, Shekar, Arshad Amin, Ashok, Joseph Pinto and others were present.
