Veteran writer Sara Aboobakker conferred Baragur Award

Mangaluru, Mar 29, 2022: The prestigious Baragur Award given by the Dr Baragur Pratishtana was conferred on eminent veteran writer Sara Aboobakker at her residence on March 29, Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Pratishtana President Muralidhar Halappa said Sara Aboobakker has strived for harmony in society through literature. The award has also conveyed the message of harmony to the society, he said adding Sara Aboobakker is an inspiration to the writers of the state.
Writer Dr Sharifa who also spoke said Sara Aboobakker has the credit of being the first Muslim woman novelist of Kannada. She has enriched the Kannada literary world through her works which reflect rationalism, Sharifa added.
Jyothi, President of Karavali Lekhakiyara Vachakiyara Sangha, Pratishtana Secretary Dr Sundararaj Urs, Additional DC Krishnamurthi, former mayor Shashidhar Hegde and others were present.
