Tulunada Rakshana Vedike rescues child labourer

Mangalore, Jan 18: The members of Tulunada Rakshana Vedike rescued a 13-year-old boy, who was working in the house of Maimoona in Mulihitlu, Mangalore, on Jan 17, Monday.

The boy Rafique is the son of Nana Saheb and Noor Jehan of Sirsi in Uttara Kannada. Reportedly, Maimoona used to make him work very hard and even chain him. Besides making the boy work in the houses of her neighbors, she even made him work at a bar. Allegedly, she did not give him enough to eat and even ill-treated him at times. 

 

 

 

Rafique told the neighbors a couple of days back that he never got enough to eat and always felt hungry. The Tulunada Rakshana Vedike, which got to know about this, raided the house, rescued the boy, and produced him before the Pandeshwar Police, who in turn took him to a child care centre.

According to sources, Maimoona told her neighbors that Rafique was her son and was willing to send him to work in their houses if they gave her Rs. 2000 per month.
