Thousands of devotees take part in Ganesh Chaturthi procession

Mangalore, Sep 22, 2012 :The grand Ganesh Chaturthi procession, which began at Omkarnagar in Bunts Hostel on September 21, Friday, comprised thousands of enthusiastic devotees. Drum beats formed the highlight of the procession, which was organized by Shree Siddhi Vinayaka Foundation and Shree Ganeshotsava Samithi. The Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations began on September 19.

The devotees installed the idol of Lord Ganesha and conducted a number of religious rituals such as Ganahoma.

Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes visited Omkarnagar just before the procession.

The colorful procession comprised around 20 dance troupes and bhajan groups. Children dressed in colorful costumes also formed part of it.

Devotees of Lord Ganesha have installed idols in various parts of the city such as Pumpwell and Nehru Maidan.
