Tension in Ullal: 4 youth injured in 2 assault cases

Mangalore, Aug 14, 2013: Tension prevailed in Ullal on the evening of August 13 following an attack and a counter attack that left four persons injured.

The first incident took place at the Mogaveerapatna Beach when two youth were attacked by a group of eight persons over a trivial issue. It is said Nasir (25) and Ashfaq(22) were sitting on the sea shore when a group of eight which was playing in the beach all of a sudden approached the duo and attacked them with wooden sticks.

But the assailants fled the scene when the police rushed to the spot. The two injured were admitted to a private hospital at Thokkottu.

As if in retaliation to the earlier attack, two youth named Lathesh (25) and Shahan (25) were attacked with bottles the same night when they were on way home.

Meanwhile, clashes erupted at the hospital premises too as all the four injured youth were admitted to the same hospital. Police had to finally resort to a lathi charge to quell the mob.

Security has been stepped up and KSRP personnel too have been deployed to avert further untoward incidents.
