Team Mangalore fascinates Korean kite enthusiasts

Mangalore, Apr 22, 2011: Team Mangalore participated in the International Kite Festival held at Uiseong in South Korea from April 11 – 16, the second event of its kind held in Korea by the local government and the Korean Kite Fliers Association. 


Around 160 kite fliers from 25 countries participated in the event. Team Mangalore, comprising Subhash Pai, Giridhar Kamath, Janardhan Rao, and Vasanth Kumar Sanil, presented some of their best kites at the event.

The people of Korea admired Team Mangalorean kites such as Durga, Yakshagana, Kathakali, Owl, Gajaraja, Pushpaka Vimana, and others. Team Mangalore also conducted workshops for kids and taught them to make Indian fighter kites. They also gifted unique Indian kites to the kids. One of the highlights was a candy drop arranged by Team Mangalore by attaching dolls to the kites. 


The Koreans were also fascinated by a Yakshagana performance by Giridhar Kamath. 


Team Mangalore has participated in a number of international kite events held in places all over the globe such as Shri Lanka, Korea, France, UK, Canada, Thailand, Dubai, and others. They participated in the Belgaum International Kite Festival held on Jan 15 – 16 and had organized the ONGC – MRPL International Kite Festival on Panambur Beach. 


Right now, the team is participating in the Artevento International Kite Festival held in Cervia, Italy.
