Sullia student dies in tragic fall while visiting waterfall in Mauritius

Sullia/ Mauritius, Oct 16, 2025: A student from Sullia, who was pursuing his education in Mauritius, tragically passed away after accidentally slipping and falling while visiting a waterfall. The deceased has been identified as Nandan S. Bhat, and his body is currently kept at Victoria Hospital in Mauritius.

Relatives and local MPs have appealed to the central government to help bring his body back to Sullia. The incident is said to have occurred on Monday.

Nandan’s uncle, Satyanarayana Bhat from Karkala, submitted a request to MP Kota Srinivas Poojary, seeking assistance to arrange for the repatriation of the body through the support of both the Mauritian and Indian governments.

In response, MP Kota Srinivas Poojary has appealed to External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to take the necessary steps. Brijesh Chowta, the MP from Dakshina Kannada, has also informed the central government and requested full assistance in the matter.

It is reported that Nandan was studying for a Diploma in Hospitality and Tourism in Mauritius.
