Students to take to streets on Feb 22 opposing Yettinahole project

Mangalore, Feb 13, 2014: Vjaykumar Shetty, Suratkal Block Congress President as well as the chief of the Karavali Jeevanadi Netravathi Raksha Samithi  has said  that  students unions of various colleges of the city have agreed to boycott classes and organise a protest march on February 22 in protest against the implementation of the Yettinahole project and also to pledge support to the movement launched by the Samithi against the project which is detrimental to the interests of the coastal districts.

Speaking to reporters in the city on February 12, Wednesday, Shetty admitted that the movement against the project lacked supporters. He said  as many as four MLAs from the district were supporting the movement and had also taken part in a protest organised in Bangalore recently. He stressed the need for each and every citizen of the district to join hands in the movement and pressurise the government to drop the project.

 Shetty said students will take out a protest march upto DC office on February 22 and submit a memorandum to the DC.
Rakshith Poojari, All College Student Union President who was also present hoped the February 22 protest would be one of the biggest protests which will see maximum number of students descending to the streets.
