Mangalore, June 25, 2013: Students of   Government Women’s  First Grade College,  Balmatta under the aegis of ABVP took out a the protest march from Jyothi Circle to DC Office on June 25, Tuesday urging the  state government to appoint lecturers immediately.


Addressing the protestors, Rakshitha, 1st year B.Com student said that the college has commenced on June 17, but till date, a single lecturer has not attended the class.

She also said that the lecturers are supposed to complete their syllabus in 16 weeks for the semester exam, but in case of their college guest lecturers have not yet been appointed.


Rakshitha said that the college does not have permanent lecturers, but only guest lecturers. She said the state government which had invited applications from  guest lecturers through online, has however  not appointed any lecturer till now. The absence of lecturers has hit hard the studies of the students, she said.


ABVP State Secretary Ramesh said that the students  have been returning home soon since the past 12 days as there are no lecturers to even take a single class.


The agitating students also shouted  slogans against Education Minister and State Government. Later, they submitted a memorandum to Education Minister through DC N Prakash.
