Mangalore, Oct 5, 2011 : The academic council of St. Aloysius College has approved the introduction of choice-based credit system for its PG programmes from this academic year. It has also approved the proposal to request the Mangalore University’s permission to start 3 more PG courses in physics, food and nutrition science, and chemistry from the academic year 2012 – 13.

 

Aloysius 1The meeting, which was chaired by Principal Fr. Swebert D’Silva, was conducted in the presence of Registrar Dr. A. M. Narahari and Secretary Fr. Francis Almeida.

The council also approved a list of 1,334 candidates, who will receive their degree certificates at the next convocation of Mangalore University. It endorsed the course structure and syllabus for the Biotechnology Finishing School (BTFS), which was approved by the government of Karnataka. This PG Diploma course will be conducted under the autonomous system, with students having to undergo one semester of studies in class and spend the other semester in industry. Four industries have already expressed willingness to take the students.

It was informed to the council that the college’s biotechnology and biochemistry departments have been approved by Mangalore University’s Research Centre. The council also approved the revised course structures and syllabi of several PG and UG courses.
