Mangalore, August 4, 2013: Police who are investigating into the recent shoot-out at Ballalbagh in Mangalore targeting businessman Vijayendra Bhat, have reportedly identified the two persons, who involved in the Friday’s shoot-out.

Sources said the police have also gathered some  details regarding the assailants based on the CCTV footages available from the scene of the crime. Sources said the police are not yet divulging any information and that there is a strong suspicion that the services of some local youth were utilized to execute the act.

It is learnt, the assailants were  keeping track of Vijayendra Bhat’s movements since the past few days.

Meanwhile, police sources said  a rivalry between underworld dons Vikky Shetty  and Ravi Poojari is believed to be the reason behind the   attempt to kill Vijayendra Bhat. This can be further ascertained by the  phone call which some media offices  received from a person claiming himself to be Vikky Shetty and stating that  Friday’s attack targeting Vijayendra  Bhat  was executed to avenge the killing of Bejai Raja. The caller also claimed that Bhat had funded the killing of Bejai Raja who was hacked to death near Falnir last December.  Some time back, Vikky Shetty  had even telephoned the media and had  claimed responsibility for the murder of transport firm manager Prashanth at Valencia.
