Mangalore, Aug 25, 2013: The South Canara District Central Co-operative Bank awarded meritorious students and distributed scholarships to needy students in memory of Late Molahalli Shivarao, the Father of Co-operative Movement, at a function held at the Bhuvanendra Hall of Canara High school, Dongerkery in Mangalore on August 23, Saturday.
M Ranganath Bhat, Honorary Secretary of Canara High School Association, honoured a total of 20 students of DK and Udupi districts who scored high marks in SSLC and PUC exams. Children of co-operative bank staff were awarded scholarships for pursuing higher education. Even meritorious students hailing from economically backward families were awarded scholarships. A total scholarship amount of Rs 5 lakhs was distributed among 175 students.
MN Rajendra Kumar, SCDCC Bank Chairman, presided over the function. Manjunath B, Cluster Manager of MNG Vyshya Insurance Company, Vinaykumar Soorinje, Vice President of SCDCC Bank, B Niranjan, TG Rajaram Bhat, Sadashiva Ullal, Directors, M Gopalkrishna Bhat, Managing Director and others were present.
