Religious leaders accept the court’s verdict peacefully

CourtMangalore, October 1: Religious leaders still remember their pre Allahabad High Court verdict vows. Accordingly, they have decided to accept the verdict peacefully.

M. B. Puranik, the leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that the verdict is “very good judgment” and urged everybody to respect the verdict, accept it, and maintain peace. Voicing his personal opinion that the court’s judgment is not in favour of any political party or religious organization, he said that everybody should welcome it. He also spoke in favour of resolving differences of opinion in a harmonious manner through dialogue.

When questioned about the decision taken by certain religious leaders to approach the Supreme Court, Mr. Puranik said that resolving problems through harmonious dialogue is better than approaching the Supreme Court. Pointing out the fact that the Allahabad High Court took sixty years to deliver its verdict, he said that the Supreme Court might take fifty more years to settle the issue.

Muslim scholar and orator Mohammed Kunhi said that the Muslim community of India had always respected the courts orders and added that unsatisfied parties can approach the Supreme Court. He also appreciated the people of various communities for maintaining peace and urged them to continue exercising restraint.

Welcoming the judgment, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said that everybody should respect the supremacy of the law. Expressing his opinion that the court’s judgment cannot be viewed as any party’s victory or defeat, he urged the people of various communities not to organize any celebrations.

MLA U. T. Khader also welcomed the court’s verdict and urged the people to remain peaceful and to close the Babri Masjid chapter once and all and open a fresh chapter of friendship and fraternity. He said that the court’s verdict is a great opportunity for people of both communities to express feelings of brotherhood. He also spoke about the futility of passing on the dispute to future generations.
