Udupi, Oct 5, 2013: Former Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat has charged the present MLA Pramod Madhwaraj of the Congress of taking credit for the development projects which were initiated during his tenure.
Speaking to reporters here, Bhat said Pramod Madhwaraj was inaugurating the projects which were taken up during his tenure without even giving credit to him. Bhat also informed that several projects taken up when he was the MLA had to be suspended owing to poll code of conduct and were resumed once elections were over. But now, neither am I invited, nor my name mentioned in the invitations, Bhat lamented.
He said many more projects which had been sanctioned during his tenure have still remained incomplete and listed a few including Malpe-Padukere Bride, laying of road between Syndicate Circle to DC office and Ambagilu to Kalsanka for which Rs 30 crore had been sanctioned.
Accusing Pramod Madhwaraj of being too busy in only accepting memoranda from the public, he asked the MLA to visit the project venues and examine the progress of works.
He also alleged that the Congress government had no new schemes for Udupi. Bhat further said the fishermen who used to earlier get 400 litres of subsidized kerosene were now getting only 200 litres and urged the government to immediately increase the quantity of kerosene provided to fishermen.
Several BJP leaders including Dinaker Shetty, Yashpal Suvarna, MR Rai and others were present.
