Polytechnic student ends life : Protests against carry-over system intensify

Udupi, Aug 3, 2013 : The protests over the changes brought about in the carry over system  has intensified after a second year polytechnic student  reportedly ended his life out of frustration as the new rule does not allow him to continue in the third semester. It is learnt, he had lost in five subjects.

The deceased student is Santosh Kumar (20), son of  Sundari and Pratibha Jatanna couple from Sagri. It is learnt. he had ended his life by hanging himself in the bedroom of his house.


The  Polytechnic students who have been on a protest against the changes in carry-over system, rushed to the KMC hospital where Santosh’s body was taken and staged a protest demanding immediate roll back of the changes brought about in the system.


Udupi Legislator Pramod Madhwaraj who met the agitating students  assured to take up the issue with the  education minister and also ensured a thorough probe into the case to find the exact cause of the suicide.


Traffic near the Tiger Circle was disrupted  for some time owing to the protest. A protest was also held  in front of the DC office.


It may be recalled  here that students had staged a day long hunger strike on August 2, Friday urging the government to cancel the changes in the carry-over system.

sir plz give us atlist 6carry over its a humble request because of 1 subject i have to waste 1 whole year otherwise i will be in final year pls sir already clg started 1st internal also within 3or 4 days
