People of Tannirbhavi demand door numbers

Mangalore, Nov 29: The people of Tannirbhavi, led by the CPI (M), staged a protest in front of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on Nov 29, Monday demanding immediate provision of door numbers.

 

 

In his protest speech, Balakrishna Shetty said that the MCC has not allotted door numbers to around 300 people of Tannirbhavi. Criticizing the MCC for its apathy toward the problems of the people, he accused the civic body of trying to acquire land for a park through unlawful means. He said that the concerned authorities say that MCC has not issued any order to give door numbers to these people.

Lamenting the lack of basic facilities, CPI (M) Leader Sunil Kumar Bajal said that political parties are busy making money and ignoring the demands of the common people, whose votes have given them their current position. Revealing the fact that the CPI (M) had approached leaders of Congress as well as BJP with the problems of the people of Tannirbhavi, but to no avail, he said that these political parties have similar agendas. He also said that the CPI (M) will intensify its protests till the 300 dalit, mogaveera, and minority families in Tannirbhavi get justice.

Jayanth B. Shetty, the CPI (M) leader; B. Madhava, the district secretary of the CPI (M); and Vasanth Achary, the local leader of CPI (M); along with local Tannirbhavi leaders such as Baby, Shameema Banu, John Castelino, and others formed part of the protest.
