Mangalore, Feb 13, 2014: A BJP delegation including former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda visited Ullal on February 13, Thursday to meet the people who were affected during the recent untoward incidents in the area.
Sadananda Gowda who spoke to reporters on the occasion, said the visit only aimed at gathering information about the recent disturbances so that the matter could be duly discussed in the budget session of the Assembly that begins on February 14, Friday.
The former chief minister on this occasion also made it clear that the visit in no way aimed at gaining undue political advantage of the incident.
Expressing his concern over the reports that a few juveniles too have been arrested in connection with the violence, Gowda said no innocent should be punished. At the same time he made it clear that he did not intend to say that the police should protect the guilty but said some amount of concern must be shown towards the juveniles arrested in the case, in the better interests of their future.
He also suggested that peace meets in the presence of religious leader should be held at least once a month.
The BJP delegation visited Mogaveerapatna but refrained from visiting Kodi which to had witnessed violence. MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLCs Capt. Ganesh Karnik, Monappa Bhandary, former MLA Yogish Bhat, former minister Krishna J Palemar, former MLA Jayaram Shetty, Sadananda Bangera, Mogaveera Sangha President and others were in the delegation.
