During a press briefing held on Wednesday, Dr. Sudharshan stressed that although two lives have been tragically lost to the Nipah virus outbreak in the neighboring state of Kerala, no cases have been reported within our district as of the current moment. Nevertheless, given our proximity to Kerala, proactive measures are being put into effect in our region.

Dr. Sudharshan provided clarity regarding the Nipah virus, explaining that it initially manifests as a viral fever, displaying symptoms akin to those typically seen in viral fevers. In certain instances, it may lead to serious health complications, including brain disorders, with a mortality rate of 60%. Despite the absence of a specific medication for Nipah, symptomatic treatment will be administered.
