Mangaluru, Aug 22, 2025: Nitte (Deemed to be University) will launch the Nitte Climate Action Program (NCAP) on August 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the KSHEMA Auditorium, Deralakatte.
The five-year outreach initiative aims to empower youth, inspire climate action, promote behavioural change, and encourage innovation toward building a sustainable and equitable future. As part of the program, Nitte DU seeks to involve nearly 10,000 students in creating awareness and driving meaningful action against climate change.
Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Darshan H. V., IAS, will be the Chief Guest for the inaugural event. The programme will be presided over by Prof. Dr. M. S. Moodithaya, Vice-Chancellor of Nitte DU, while Prof. Dr. G. Srinikethan, Former IIC President, will attend as Guest of Honour.
The initiative is being organised by the university’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Cell, led by Prof. Dr. Suma Ballal (Deputy Registrar), Dr. Vinayak Shet (Member Secretary, SDG Cell), Mr. Shashi Kumar Shetty (Chief NSS Coordinator), and the SDG team.
University officials said the launch of NCAP 25 reflects Nitte DU’s commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and global climate action.
