Mangaluru, Mar 02, 2018: A two-day national level seminar-cum-workshop on ‘Utilization of Solar Energy for Power Generation – Greennxt’ was inaugurated at St Agnes College on March 2, Friday by Shivashankar, Assistant General Manager, Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited (KREDL). The event has been organised by the Departments of Economics and Physics of the College.
Speaking on the occasion, Shivashanker while pointing out that KREDL has been training students regarding maintenance and operation of solar panels, hoped that such workshops go a long way in highlighting the importance of solar energy.
JR Lobo, MLA of Mangaluru South said there was a greater need to make the best use of solar power and ensure protection of environment by minimising pollution. He also spoke about the world’s largest solar park set up at Pavagada in Tumakuru district at a cost of Rs 16,500 crores.
MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, MLC and Chief whip of Legislative council Ivan D’Souza, Principal of St Agnes College Sr Dr Jeswina were present among others.
