Mangalore, Oct 15, 2013: Nagarika Seva Trust President Somanatha Nayak alleged Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Dr Veerendra Heggade of furnishing false declarations on Land Tribunal.
Speaking at the press meet held at Press Meet held at Press Club on October 15, Tuesday he said that in the year 1974 as per the land declaration, Dr Heggade holds 4, 671 acre agriculture land out of which 3,620 acre land was given to tenants. Out of 1,051 acre land, only 137 acre land is agricultural land. As per Heggade, the land had been divided into deemed conversion, plantation and converted land.
He also said that without government’s order, an agriculture land cannot be declared as Deemed land. But Heggade’s land was declared as ‘deemed’, even though there was no government order and no spot inspection was conducted by AC.
Dr Heggade in the document had even stated that government had given 44 acre of DC Manna land for the purpose of Dharmasthala Education Trust run by him. The trust did not even allocated alternative land to distribute among the dalits which is violation of rule. Hence he urged the government to direct Heggade to give alternative land for the poor.
Somanatha Nayak also said that a total of 42.05 acre government land bearing different survey numbers in Ujire village has been leased out to Sri Dharmasthala Education Trust for Rs 420, per cents in 1970 and was extended till 30 years. Later on April 1, 2008, the Deputy Commissioner increased the annual fee to Rs 9,500 per cents and continued the lease for 30 years. Heggade has also violated the government rule by changing the name of the leasee from Sri Dharmasthala Education Trust to Society, he said.
He said that Dr Heggade is incurring a huge loss to the government by leasing out the land for a low price, when the market value per cent is Rs five lakhs.
Nayak also demanded Dr Heggade to reveal the income of Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala to public, income gained from rented shops in the temple premises, lodges, special puja’s and money order in front of private channel to show his transperancy.
If Dr Heggade also holds secret voting in Belthangady taluk to find people in his support, he will surely find 80 percent of votes against him.
Nayak said that he is not against the temple or believes of the people, since he is also a devotee of Lord Manjunatha and Annappa, but he is against injustice taking place in the name of God.
Nayak urged the government to hand over all 452 suicide cases and 16 murder cases took place in Dharmasthala in 11 years along with Sowjanya Rape and murder case to CBI. Police should subject the accused Santosh Rao to a narcoanalysis test to find out who all were involved in the murder.
Prof Narendra Nayak, president of Federation of Indian Rationalists’ Association said that if necessary, the issue will be raised in the United Nations Organization for human rights violation in name of religion and god, he said.
He also condemned senior Congress leader B. Janardhana Poojary who referred Dr Heggade to a ‘Walking God’ at the inauguration of Dasara celebrations at Kudroli Gokarnanatheswara Temple.
