Mangalore, Nov 20, 2012 : A construction worker died and seven others were rescued from the debris of a major landslide in a construction site at Derebail. Konchadi, Mangalore today, Nov 20, 2012.  The worker who died was buried in a heap soil fallen on him while he was working on the site. The incident took place between 11.30 am.

The deceased is identified as Abdul Vadath Mundal (50) from Kolkata.

Seven workers, who were trapped under the debris were rescued by the firefighters and fellow workers in time. They are admitted in A J Hospital for treatment. The injured are Subhash, Mukhul, Sharanamma, Shilpa and Abdul Huda. Most of the labourers involved in the accident were from Andhra Pradesh.

It is believed that the accident occured due to lack of safety measures and carelessness of the construction company. The Chief Fire Officer of Varadaraj, said that the accident occurred due to negligence and irresponsibility of the employers. The incident took place between 11.30 am and it took two hours of struggle to save the injured.
