Mangalore: Jilted lover stabs young woman; flees

Mangalore, April 23, 2013: A 26 year old girl from Belthangady has been admitted to the hospital with critical injuries after she was allegedly stabbed by a jilted lover on April 22, Monday.

It is learnt, Umakanth, a young man who was in love with the woman, was disheartened when she turned down his love and refused to marry him.

As per sources, on April 22, Monday, Umakanth approached the girl and declared his love for her and demanded that she promised to marry him. When she refused, he stabbed her in her head and hand and fled the scene.

The girl who lay in a pool of blood was admitted to hospital by an autorickshaw driver who noticed her.

It is learnt, the girl was a nurse in a hospital and stayed in a house of a relative in Mangalore, and that Umakanth who works in a hotel came to know her about six months ago.

Pandeshwar police have registered a case of murder attempt and are on the lookout for the youth.
