Mangalore, November 30: Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza inaugurated the renovated church of Our Lady of Lourdes in Kanajar on Nov 29, Monday. He also blessed the newly constructed grotto after inaugurating the church and concelebrated the Holy Mass with over 30 specially invited priests.

Rev. Fr. Vincent Victor Menezes, the parish priest of Cascia, preached the homily. The liturgy was organized by Rev. Fr. Boniface Pinto, the director of Mangala Jyothi. The adoration of the Blessed Sacrament marked the end of the Holy Mass.


The felicitation programme commenced at 11:45 a.m. Rev. Dr. Baptist Menezes, the Episcopal vicar of Udupi district, was the chief guest of the event. The guests of honor were Rev. John A. Barboza, the vicar forane of Karkal Deanery, and Mr. H. Gopal Bhandary, the MLA of Karkala constituency.


The children of the parish performed a welcome dance. Over 2000 people had attended the programme, at the end of which a sumptuous meal was served to all.
