Mangalore,Oct 1, 2012: M. Veerappa Moily, union minister for corporate affairs, said on Sunday that the centre will accord international status for Mangalore Airport before the end of this year. The granting of international status for the airport has already been approved at the official level, he added.
Further, he said that the airport will be given the tag of international airport in two months, and simultaneously, the air cargo complex will also be completed.
Currently, the airport is a domestic customs airport operating international flights to West Asia. Besides, it has received approval for cargo clearance.
Regarding rumors of B. S. Yeddyurappa joining the Congress, he said that his party aims to give the people of Karnataka a corruption-free and transparent government, adding that the party is willing to accept anyone who helps the Congress create such a government. He also clarified that the Congress high command will take decisions in this regard.
Voicing his opinions about the Kaveri crisis, he urged the governments of Tamil Nadu and Karnataka to find a permanent solution to the problem. He also said that the one must not forget that the Supreme Court has ordered the state government to comply with the Cauvery River Authority (CRA) and release 9000 cusecs of water daily till October 15.
