The victim was standing near the bus stop when the gang attacked him. Although he ran for his life and tried hiding inside a juice centre, his attackers chased him and hacked to death.

According to owner of the juice centre, Guruprasad was badly injured and bleeding when he entered the juice centre. Obviously, the gang had assaulted him even when he was running for his life.

Rivalry between two gangs is believed to be the motive behind the attack. In 2009, Guruprasad was arrested for the murder of rowdy Kadle Manju, but was acquited owing to lack of evidence. He began working as a tempo driver a few months back.

Manju’s gang is believed to have attacked him to take revenge for Manju’s murder. Attempts were made to murder Guruprasad previously and he had even lost a finger while escaping from one such attempt.

ACP Vinay Goankar of Bunder Police Station arrived at the spot and is investigating the case.

Mangalore, April 24: Police investigation has proved that the murder of Guruprasad was well orchestrated. Police source have traced a mobile call that was made to Guruprasad’s mobile at 12.30 pm. It is assumed that he was asked to meet the caller at Biby Alabi road bus stop. To Guruprasad’s surprise, a gang of killers were waiting for him. Realising the trap, he ram for his life. Following a chase he was hacked to death by the gang.

Guruprasad was acquitted in the murder of ‘Kadle Manjunatha’ case in 2009. He was staying in Bangalore till recently fearing attack on his life. He had come to Mangalore a few months back and was running a tempo vehicle as well as engaged as finance collecting agent.
