Mangaluru, Sept 17, 2023: Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyasa Kamath has called upon the state government to bolster security measures at prominent religious sites in Karnataka.
Following the arrest of Arafath Ali by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), it came to light that Mohamed Shariq had targeted the Kadri Sri Manjunatha Temple, carrying an IED concealed within a pressure cooker, which detonated prematurely. Kamath stressed the need for an intensified investigation into this matter, urging the authorities to apprehend all individuals involved in conspiracies against the nation.
The NIA’s inquiry has uncovered that Arafath Ali was the mastermind behind the plan to detonate the cooker bomb. Additionally, the agency has linked him to the two graffiti incidents in Mangaluru in 2020, as highlighted by the MLA.
Kamath emphasized that it is crucial for Congress leaders to comprehend the seriousness and sensitivity of this situation, rather than pursuing policies for vote bank appeasement. Given that a temple in Mangaluru was targeted by terrorists, he further called upon the state government to enhance security measures at religious sites across the entire state.
