MLA Bharath Shetty’s critique of Priyank Kharge’s education draws attention

Mangaluru, June 11, 2023: Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty from the BJP has strongly criticized Priyank Kharge, the Minister for IT, BT, Rural Development, and Panchayat Raj, for questioning the credentials of Chakravarty Sulibele, the founder of Yuva Brigade.

Kharge raised concerns on Friday about Sulibele’s article being included in a school textbook and questioned his qualifications. He specifically asked whether the right-wing speaker had obtained a PhD in any subject.

He’s is an engineering graduate, a resourceful person who has dedicated himself to the service of the Nation. PhD is never a prerequisite to be a writer.

In response, the BJP MLA took to Twitter on Saturday from his handle @bharathshetty_y, challenging Kharge’s remarks and also referring to the minister’s own qualifications. Shetty’s tweet stated, "@PriyankKharge, You asked @astitvam (Sulibele) whether he completed a PhD? He is an engineering graduate, a resourceful individual who has dedicated himself to serving the nation. A PhD is not a prerequisite for being a writer. Aren’t you leading the IT/BT ministry with a PUC qualification?"

The tweet received responses from netizens who criticized both the minister and Shetty.
