Mangalore, Nov 20, 2012: Delivering the valedictory address at the National Library Week 2012 held in Milagres Auditorium on Tuesday, Shudra Shrinivas, senior writer and member of the State Library Authority, opined that creation of mini libraries can go a long way in uniting the world.
Speaking about the power of books, he said that books not only teach people, but also help to mould their lifestyle and personality. Great personalities such as Nehru and Gandhi were also inspired by books, he added.
Addressing the gathering, senior writer K. T. Gatty said that reading books is a hobby that is fast losing its popularity. Although the number of writers is increasing, the number of book readers is not, he added.
The event was inaugurated by MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.
Among those present were MLA Krishna J. Palemar, DC Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, MUDA President S. Ramesh, ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayaprakash, and others.
