Kundapur, Oct 4, 2013: An illegal quarry operating at Arana in Hosur village of Kundapur was raided by a team of revenue officials on October 4, Friday. The raid followed complaints by locals who alleged that the quarry was operating despite expiry of its licence period.
The officials seized all implements and tools found at the quarry site. The official team during the raid also found that apart from the existing quarry land, the owners had encroached about 50 cents of nearby land for the purpose.

It is learnt, the quarry was owned by Narayana Shetty and Karunaker Shetty jointly in a 25 cents land in the village. Villagers said the licence of the quarry had expired two years ago and that the owners had not bothered to renew the same.
The raiding team was led by Vandse revenue inspector Ashok Kumar and included village accountant Ravishanker and others.
