Kundapur: 1 killed, 3 injured in Maruti Omni-tipper collision

Kundapur, April 23, 2013 : A road accident reported from Haklady near here on April 22, Monday, claimed the life of a person and injured three others. The mishap took place when a 407 tipper collided head on with a Maruti Omni.
The deceased is Ravindra Poojari (28) from Ulloor, Kandavar. The accident occurred when Ravindra along with his sister Saroja, brother-in-law Shanker Poojari and niece Sapna (11) and nephew Swayam(5) were on way to Aloor Temple. Ravindra died on the spot, while Shanker has sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Adarsh Hospital, Udupi. Saroja and her children have been admitted to Chinmayi Hospital.
The Maruti Omni was badly mangled due to the impact of the collision while the tipper had hit a tree on the side of the highway.
A trip during a summer vacation turned tragic for Shanker and his family which had come from Mumbai just two days ago, Shanker worked abroad.
It is learnt the tipper owned by a person from Kundapur. The drive is learnt to have fled the scene of the accident.
Gangolli police have registered a case.
