Bengaluru, Aug 31, 2025: The monsoon has tightened its grip across India, with both northern and southern regions receiving intense rainfall. In Karnataka, continuous downpours have lashed several districts, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue a yellow alert for the coastal belt till September 6.
The Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) on Saturday issued a fresh advisory, warning of very heavy rainfall accompanied by strong surface winds in coastal Karnataka. According to the forecast, heavy spells are expected to continue daily until September 6, with particularly strong winds on August 31 and September 2.
Bengaluru too has been receiving frequent showers, keeping temperatures moderate and adding to the city’s monsoon charm. Elsewhere, the Malnad and interior districts have reported light to moderate rain with occasional thunderstorms.
The KSNDMC has also cautioned that Malnad districts could face scattered to widespread rainfall over the next week. On August 30, isolated incidents of very heavy rain are likely in hilly and vulnerable areas, raising the risk of waterlogging and localised flooding.
